WearIT4Health is an ambitious project, supported by the Interreg VA Euregio Meuse-Rhine Cooperation Programme, the Walloon Region, The Provincie Limburg of Belgium, the Provincie Limburg of the Netherlands, and of the project partners within these regions: 1.Coordinator ULg-Interface Entreprises-Université de Liège, 2.Scientific Lead Partner-ULg Microsys, 3. Reduce nurses workload, enhance safety
The intention of the project was to create a wearable multi-sensor monitoring device that is comfortable for the hospitalized patients and compatible with the IT infrastructure of the different hospitals of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. The objective is to reduce workload of healthcare professionals and to enhance patient safety.
Clinical study results
The device was testied in clinical study
CHU: 24 patients, cardiology/pulmology departments
- Lots of patient transfers
- Overall ~900 hours of monitoring, duration between 24 and 72 hours
AZM: 16 patients, orthopedics department
- Patients moving around
- Monitoring duration between 12 and 48 hours
Room for improvement
The develloped prototype is finalized at TRL level 5/6, the usebility and validity results of the clinical study provide valuable info for further development which will take place in the wearIT4COVID project. And help MUMC+ deside on specifications for commercial wearables for continuoes monitoring on nursing wards.
